Year 10 Curriculum Graph and Work Experience

The percentage figures on the graph show how much curriculum time is devoted to each subject.
Year 10 pupils are encouraged to undertake a 2 week period of work experience under Project Trident, preparations for which traditionally begin in Year 10. Tutorial visits by members of the teaching staff are a feature of work experience, and the English department collaborates with the Careers department to ensure effective feedback from pupils. It should be noted that failure to complete work experience satisfactory will deny pupils the possibility of accreditation in some courses. Parents experiencing any problem with work experience should, therefore, consult school before training decisions. Careers guidance becomes the most prominent aspect of the school's Personal and Social Education programme during Year 11. Liaison with the LEA's Careers Department, which provides individual interviews for all pupils, and with Barnsley College is considered essential if pupils are to make effective decisions about their futures.
