Hello there I would just like to say hello to anyone that might remember me I was at the school in 1966-1969 I left with no results at all - all my fault for not realising how important education is. I joined the Army and spent 17 years as a secuirty dog handler. I then realised my vocation and went to college to train as a teacher. I am currently working as a Programme Development Officer and I teach Alternative Provision to 15 and 16 year olds at a school just outside Barnsley. I would like to say to all your school pupils - dont think education is a waste of time it's the source of your future so make the most of it whilst you can and good luck. Anyone who wishes to contact me can do so by the above e-mail address. All the best from Rob.mailto:robert.porter14@btopenworld.com
I must congratulate the Willowgarth web-site, I left a message a couple of weeks ago on this message board and through this I have been contacted by a long lost friend who lives in Oz. Well done to Willowgarth High School.
All the best and thanks.

I went to Willowgarth in Sept 1970 (I think?) with Mr Mckenzie as my tutor and Geog teacher. After graduating in Biol at York Univ, I went into teaching at High Pavement Sixth form College Nottingham. (More fool me!) Believe it or not, I'm still there, so teaching can't be that bad! Any old timers still there who I might remember? Really hope the school hasn't gone down the plug-hole in the way good old Grimethorpe seems to have done, with its endless social problems.mailto:roy.atherton@ntlworld.com
I still remember you, Roy! Willowgarth is doing very well at the moment. A very good Ofsted report has been well received by all. Thanks for the email and very best wishes,
Dave McKenzie (Webmaster)

To all the students at Willowgarth, be proud of your teachers, as they are the ones who can make you really go places in life. Listen, learn and most of all respect them. Never forget what they have done for you or are going to do for you. I have had a fantastic career and I am now living in Australia, due to the persistance of my Teachers. To the teachers - some of you do remember me. You are all fantastic don't stop.David Back to top
