More views around the school

►Above is a view of the main area of the school which houses Administration, Individual Needs, Design Technology, Information Technology, Mathematics, Languages, Personal Health and Social Education and Art.
►Photo 2 is taken from the rear (east) of the school and looks south down the 'Dell'. This is a small valley which touches our site on two sides (north and east). It has been used for cross-country running and fieldwork.
It is also a well-used amenity. Many local people find their recreation here. Fishing in the lake is very popular. Tom Bank Wood is just visible on the left. This is a deciduous wood, with sycamore (Acer) and beech (Fagus).
►In photo 3, Tom Bank Wood is clearly visible here on the right of the photograph - this is the eastern slope of the Dell. A good idea of the type of area in which we are situated - farmland and woodland - is given here. Brierley Common and Brierley Gap (the Robin Hood or Five Acres) are on the top of the hill on the horizon. The road on the top is the main road to Great Houghton from Hemsworth. The farming can best be described as mixed - arable e.g. cereals, legumes and root crops, pastoral (sheep, dairy and beef) and rough grazing on the steeper slopes - especially the ones facing south. Horses can be found on the latter.
►Photo 4 shows part of the extensive Sports Fields, the site boundary fence and Brierley village in the distance are shown here. This elevated village site separates the river valleys of the Aire to the North and the Don to the south. This settlement has a long history. Check out this link: http://www.brierley59.freeserve.co.uk/. The Dell valley is just beyond the school boundary. This view looks to the north-west.
►Photo 5 is to the rear (east) of the school and shows the Humanities area. The building to the right houses the History, Geography and Religious Education Departments. The main building can be seen in the distance beyond the tennis courts.
►Photo 6 shows the Main Hall.Assemblies, plays, the annual pantomime, examinations and many other activities, meetings and functions take place here. This is a very busy building. It is well-equipped for theatre arts, and can accommodate a large audience comfortably.
►Photo 7 shows a very important area of the school - our Cafeteria. Well-supervised by our uniformed dinner ladies and staff.
►Photo 8 shows the Main Hall to the left and the Sports Hall to the right.

►The photo at the bottom of the page is of the "Airport Lounge". This is a well used area of the school for meeting friends.
