Message to Parents
Dear Parents,
Willowgarth is a mixed, community school occupying a large open site set in extremely pleasant countryside between the villages of Grimethorpe and Brierley. Having approximately 770 pupils, it is small enough to ensure that no child will be overlooked, and yet it enjoys many advantages owing to its generous accommodation.
We are especially proud of our state-of-the-art computer rooms; our provision for science, design technology, and visual and performing arts; our special needs area (The Link); our learning support unit; our library; our conference room and last, but certainly not least, our dining area.
Improvements to the grounds and premises continue apace. This year another computer room has been built. The running track has been restored and the tennis courts and their perimeter fence have been renewed. Two sets of toilets have been refurbished to a high specification and two disabled toilets have been installed.
Willowgarth was the first school nationally to have a nursery on site. Not only does the nursery provide quality childcare for the local community, the school is able to use this tremendous facility for realistic work placements for our pupils.
