Hi Willowgarth

Hope everything is going alright up there, still missing the place and all my old teachers sometimes wish i was back there.
Im now working for a fastly growing IT company called Cultrix as a IT Technician and other IT related tasks when needed.
We basically deal with everything do to with computers from hosting email/webspace to technical work.
I guess I still kept my passion for computer right until now(which I didn't expect to).Left barnsley college with a M/P in BTEC Nationals IT and also studyed multimedia A-levels and other subjects alongside which I passed.Im also not living in Grimethorpe anymore either,im now in Newmillerdam with my girlfriend no kids just yet though still see myself as one time-to-time.

Anyways thats enough about me for now - hope your all keeping well and happy - Any IT problems you know who to call!!

It's strange, when you think of it. I hadn't really thought about school much. Most of my memories were not that pleasant, then things happen that put everything into perspective. Anyway I looked at the site and see a couple of teachers I remember, not many but it is a long time ago. I left in 1985 only now am I going to University I just wanted to say if anyone knows, or see Mr. Ardron (spelling?) pass on a message for me, "I was careful with the axe, and I finally pulled my finger out and thanks you turned what was a cruel nickname into something cool, the wisdom of that never ceases to amaze me" - "Eugene"

Hi everyone. Just thought I would have a quick nosey at what has been happening since I left. (Wow, 4 years ago!)
I now live in Wakefield with my soon to be husband and my 6 month old daughter Charlotte-Jean.
I hop everyone is well and looking after themselves. (Yes teachers included)
Really do miss school at times even though I hated it whilst I was there, and I so made my feelings clear about that!!!!
Good Luck to everyone for the future!!!

Hi everyone I spent 3 glorious years at Willowgarth from 1974 - 77 and made lots of good friends who I would love to get in touch with again. After leaving Willowgarth I went into the Army serving my country for 24 years attaining the rank of Regimental Sergeant Major. During my time in the Army I saw Active Service in the Falklands War, first Gulf War and Bosnia. I retired from the British Army in April 2001 and spent a year as a Close Protection Officer (Body Guard) before moving to Australia in June 2002 to get back in the green and joined the Australian Army where I am still serving and have just picked up my Commission to Captain. Any of the old gang who can still remember me and would like to get in touch I would be pleased to hear from especially Peter Lukey, Kenny Blanchard, Nigel Cotton, Anne Wright, Cheryl Knight, Susan Eccles, Caroline Jennison, Julie Bird, Chris Emblem, Mark Perrin. I would also love to hear from any of the teachers that remember me such as Mr Price, Miss Clark, the Willouby brothers, Mr Leary.

As if it was 7 years since I left! Taken me some time but I'm finally at uni! Got my A levels from Hillsborough College 2 years ago (4 A's!!! - wouldnt have got them if it wasn't for the grounding I got at Willowgarth!!) Thanks to everyone who helped along the way, particularly the Maths and Science departments as I'm currently studying for a degree in theoretical physics at Imperial college London (who have this week been ranked 5th in the world!!) Learned a lot in my time at school, and was given support and advice that I wasnt really able to appreciate fully at the time but massive gratitude to all the staff who put up with me, guided me, taught me and helped get me to where I am today!

Hi guys, left this school 9 years ago, doesn't time fly!! I didn't know this website existed until i went on Facebook. Its nice to see the comments from the guys who left 1999. I came across a photo of Mr Bond posted on Facebook Website, must say fantastic teacher and form tutor!!
I am still living in Barnsley and went to College for three years to study A-levels. I am currently an Export / Import Manager for a company based in Rotherham have been there 6 six years and loving it. I recently got married in July this year to Simon who i met through work (and still work with him).

Only people I still see from School are Emma Lockwood (ginge), Gemma Storey and Chris Atherton (Kip). I lost touch with the majority. It's nice to read you are all doing well!!

If anyone wants to get in touch martek2@hotmail.co.uk! bye Lesley :)

Since leaving Willowgarth almost 10 years ago I had a go at college doing Health and Social Care but got a job instead at SR gents - that didn't last that long either. I grew up a bit since, then I met my boyfriend Andrew Lacey 8 years ago (he's also a ex Willowgarth pupil) . Andrew and I have 2 gorgous kids Raegan (she's 6) and Lucas (he's 20 months). Because Andrew as a good job I stay at home with the kids. Two afternoons a week I am a volunteer teachers assistant at Ladywood school in Grimethorpe where I live. Eventually I would like to work with children its always been my dream.
I always loved my time at Willowgarth id go back there tomorrow.
Hi to all the teachers hope your all well x.

OK, well don't know whether I still want to admit this but years ago under the ever so funny teacher called Mr. Saul scored a home goal in basket ball and to this very day he has not forget even to the fact that three of my family members who have been and gone were tortured by this fact, my only worry now is that my son will be going up in September, (may be not a good idea to mention my surname eh!.). Loved this school and hope my son does well.

Hiya all, its been one year since I last visited this site (time flys) and not much to report. I have a little girl called Annalise Sommer, who is now 2 months old. Im still working in the bars but I do a bit of translating work in my spare time. Hopefully starting college next year (spanish college). I can't believe that I hated school and was ecstatic to leave, I would be back in a flash, wouldn´t it be nice to have a 1 year break and then go back for the last year and do all the GCSE´s. I think a lot more of us would have done better. Hiya to Jaime Hall, your the only one from our year that has written a message, its nice to hear what people are doing now. Hi everyone who left in 94. Have to say Willowgarth is not something you forget as you get older. I still remember it as if it were yesterday even though it's so long ago. Miss Allen who was a fantastic teacher, Mr Deighton who spent half his time trying to control the jokers of the class. Mr Watts and his camping trips - yeah the one where I fell in the lake and got soaked!!! When I was at school I couldn't wait to leave, but if I had the choice i'd be back at school - life is so much simpler and I never realised how important to get grades just really was. Even though I didn't do too well in the exams I am now working as deputy store manager for a home improvements company. I have written parts of an in house training programme for the same company and we've had it accreddited as a BTEC. Whilst I have worked extremely hard to get where I am now I still wish i'd gotten on more at school.
Hello to all the pupils and teachers that remember me, I have to say you'll never be forgotten. Chow!!!

Well this is the first time I have been on this website and looking back at some of the photos brings back some great memories and some not so good ones but overall they were great. I left in 1970 to join the Army after 22 years of that life I am now back in Wakefield enjoying my civilian life but it's thanks to all the teachers back in the late 60's and early 70's I did what I did. If any old mates are out there I'd love to here from you, I read one comment about the 1st XV Rugby Team - I was one of those players what great times we had. Thanks to all those past Teachers and pupils and good luck to all those in the future.

Hiya to you all! I would just like to say hello to all the teachers and my little sister Bethany who is in Year 9. I never thought I'd say this but I miss school and it was a lot easier life at school than it is now. After I left school I did hairdressing for 2 years at Barnsley College and I qualified!! I now live miles away from Grimethorpe in Dinnington with my fiance stu and my little girl who is 5 months old now and called Leona-dee, shes my little angel!! (and if Mr Hesletine is reading this i will bring her up to see you one day.) When she gets a little bit older I am going back to mobile hairdressing and nails so if any of you a need a hair cut or a manicure then give us a ring. Miss you all xxx

Hi again everyone, its been a few months since I last posted a comment on here so here I go again. I've got a beautiful baby boy now (Finlay) who was born 11 days late on 11th oct 2005. He's a bundle of joy, nothing like them electronic devil dolls that I remember looking after in year 9 or 10, they could put you off having kids for life! Recently started seeing more people who I was at school with. I often see Toni Hanson about but I'm always in the car passing and she doesn't see me. I keep in touch with: Channy (Chantell Marshall) who also has a little boy now (younger than Finlay), Emily Winters, Emma Round, Mel Wilkinson, Steph Guest and Laura Bains. Would be really chuffed if Toni could get in touch via email. Luv ya loads Stace x x x x

The world is full of examples of creativity; objects, buildings, painting, sculptures etc, and so it is easy to see the potential for future employment by obtaining art qualifications.
Drawing is a universal means of communication and always has been. Insights into cultures of past civilisations have been gained from such images as Egyptian hieroglyphics or the drawings in the caves at Lascaux

I'm so glad that Willowgarth has got a webpage! I've been wanting to say hello to all you lovely staff for a while....Thank you for firing my imagination and making my school years so memorable. I went to College, did my A-Levels, then went straight to the University Of Nottingham where I studied Sociology and Social Policy (loving every minute of it!). After a short stint of being a Researcher for a consultancy I am now working in a secondary school as a PSA (even I can't believe I'm back in the education system so soon!). Because I am enjoying working in a school more than I ever imagined I am applying to do my PGCE in Citizenship...Mr. Bond - Thank you for being such a great teacher - when I'm covering lessons I try to remember some of your tactics (however, I don't think I can beat the 'fake' call out incident!) Great news that Mr. Loveday is now the headteacher - I always did like your Chemistry lessons. Thank you to the whole staff team... And finally, it's great to hear that Willowgarth keeps performing better and better.

Anyway congratulations to Bianca and Stacy Allen on ther new arrivals good luck. About a renuion party give me a ring or call in you know where I live and will sort some thing out. Thanks to all the teachers especially the one and only Miss Siddons for putting up with me for 3 years on the trot. Also thanks to Mrs Lomas and Mrs Carr, but you didn't sell me your mini did you? So I would like to say I'll see you soon.

Another year bites the dust. Time seems to fly when you're having fun. If Ya can call work fun.......well... its not that bad really. Its weird how when you're at school you seem to know and talk to everyone, now 5 years down the line "I think" everyones dissappeared. After reading some of the entries I think our year is spread all over the world. I'm still on with the same job as my last entry, Civil Engineer. Ive now got Ryan Kaye labouring for me for those who knew him. It's good to order an old class mate around, LOL. Surely its got to be time for another reunion, I missed the last one because I was prior engaged (on holiday) not that I was complaining. Anyway...."HAPPY NEW YEAR N ALL THE BEST TO WHOEVER READS"

I was at Willowgarth until 1979. I had a great time, and now that I'm looking at schools for my own son, I can really see what a great school Willowgarth was - something for everyone, enjoyable, safe, teachers who (mainly) had a great sense of humour and who did their best with me, even if I wasn't always entirely appreciative. Thanks to Mr Max Bristow, Geoff Dry, Mrs Corbett, Alb Wilkinson and Mr Ivett - blimey that's dated me like nothing else could - I've had a fantastic career and I put it down to Willowgarth. Hello to anyone old enough to remember doing their "O" levels and CSEs in the fantastic hot summer of 1976

Hiya Willowgarth.
You wouldnt believe how fast times fly when you leave school! I left Willowgarth in 2001, I have to say, looking back they were the best times of my life, I just wish I could re-live them. After hearing what everyone else has done and achieved since is amazing. Its good to see the different routes that people make. It's nice to see something like this, a guestbook so that people can share their acheivements with everyone. All I can say is - pretty boring really, I went on to college, got my A-levels, and then suprizingly went on to Uni of which I'm in my last year, studying Journalism and PR! I cant believe it! its really unlike me to do Uni as believe me I was no geek! (haha)

Still best friends with Kelly Jackson and Karen Cocking, only us three left now. Can't get over how much the school has changed since I was last there....Hope my little brother will enjoy it when he finally gets up there!

Please help, my wife Christine Valentine Wardy (Lightfoot) who was at "Barnsley High School for Girls" 1964-1967 has died of recent. I have quite a few things from her school days School reports, Speech Day booklets for the following years 1964-1967 . Does any one know if "Barnsley High School for Girls" has its own website? I have the newspaper article where Christine Lightfoot with two other girls "Rita Jones" & " Janet Payne" each won places at St Anne's (Oxfod) St Hilda's (Rita Jones) & (Janet Payne) St Hugh's college's.
I still have the leaving card that was signed by all her school friends.
I am constructing a website in her Memory there will be link on my other website SG77.com in the near future.

I got married on the 11th of March this year to an Argentinian lad (lifeguard, considering I can't swim it's great). Not much else to be honest. Love ya all Hayley xxx

Looks like I'm the last one to write in this thing! Didn't even know it existed... I think! Anyways, seems like people are giving their life stories so I guess its only fair that I give mine, so here goes! Seriously though, I've done a few things since leaving school and one of the best was living in the USA. Good times, and plenty of 'em. Back here now and I think I'm going to apply for the police... or fire service.... REALLY can't decide!!
Anyway, Miss. Vosper you're a top bird! We all love ya ;-)

Hello all. I have just completed my Diploma in Childcare and Education at Barnsley College. I am now officially qualified and it feels great. I am working as a nanny for a family in the local area, caring for two boys, one aged 2 years and the baby is 10 months.
I am also looking forward to being an auntie in September as my brother (Wayne Vicary) and his girlfriend are expecting their first baby.
It's all happening this year !!!

Hi, I'm writing this long overdue note to say thanks to a person that stood by me through the years of adolescence and being a prat. Anyway after my numerous stints in solo I was determined to better myself, so I went to college where I studied ICT and now I'm currently an IT consultant working on the NHS engagement (NPFIT) for Capex; if you don't know about the program you will in a few years. Anyway all I really want to say is I hope you will do the same for my sisters (I know one of them is already a pain) as you did for me and thanks again Miss Vosper.

I thought that I'd check back to see how my old school is doing, and to be honest, it seems to be doing well. Sad to hear about the science block.

I'm now an IT Consultant working around the country on implementing the NPfIT project into the NHS. Currently I'm in Nottingham, working in the Nottinghamshire Mental Healthcare Trust. Hopefully I won't see any of you here, eh?

I remember the good times here, I miss all of the people that I hung around with. I hope that all is going well. I'll see if I can drop by some time, see if I can say a good old 'How do?' to all my teachers that attempted to sanitize me. That didn't work by the way Mrs. Lomas... You knew that it wouldn't though really.

Ha

See you around

GREAT BIG HELLO TO THE BEST TEACHERS IN THIS COUNTRY
and if anyone knows it is me. I left in 94 and I've done about every job I can. I've gone from the Army to saving lives on the sea (if you can class Cleethorpes as sea!)
Not bad for a Grimethorpe lad eh?. I hope all the teachers are well. I saw Miss Ferry one day up at the sea front but didn't get chance to talk to her and say thanks . She doesn't know why I suppose because she was allways kicking me out of class. Here's to Mr Beswick - How's it going? I still owe you that drink mate but thanks, I wouldn't have got there without you . Putting more in now then ever as I'm self employed in construction which is finishing soon so I will be moving back home to Yorkshire.
Thanks again guys & girls hope you are all well. You never let us down so I think you will be fine -best say my byes, got to go but not forgoten
As in my school days I will see the past the present and the future and I will never forget the best days of my brothers and my life at Willowgarth High School. Thank You.

Just logged on to read the guest book - sorry to hear that the science block has burnt down, I hope that the school gets plenty of support with rebuilding it. I didn't see any news on it as I'm living in London but I was told and have seen the newspaper reports. Keep updating the site on the progress of the science block as it would be nice to keep updated. There's lots of memories in that block. Hope everything goes well. I'd like to say a big hello to the teachers who taught me, it'd be nice to hear from them or any ex pupils from my year.

I left Grimethorpe in 1970 after completing GCE's at Willowgarth to live in Melbourne, Australia. I managed to get back in 1985 and now after 20 years have finally found a window of opportunity to get back for a few days. I look at the Willowgarth guest book regularly and couldn't believe it when I logged on early this week to learn of the fire, it has taken me a week to get over it.
Anyway, for all those who were in my year at Willowgarth, I will be in Grimethope from around the 14th - 17th April, have kept in contact with a few people and hopefully we will arrange to have a few drinks at one of the locals, anyone who remembers me, I would love to hear from you before I get there, my email address is sueh77@hotmail.com

Hi everyone! hope things are going well for you guys. Can't believe that the entire science block has been demolished through the fire. Luckily no one has been hurt so thats a good thing but even if the school gets rebuilt it will never be the same as the memories are now all gone from the old building. I miss school loads. There's a lot of memories from this school. Just like to say hi to miss Vosper the best teacher in the world and to Mrs Carr. Thanks for everything - I passed all my exams and I wouldn't have done it without you lot. Hope to keep in touch with some of you and I will still see you Miss Vosper when my mam cuts your hair! School didn't seem very important before the 4th February 2005 after watching the Science and English block burn down in front of my eyes. Knowing pupils work and resources have all gone has made me realise how much you need school. Also I realised how much the teachers really do care about us pupils, teachers and other members of staff risked their lives to ensure our safety. Mr Loveday's passion about our school was evident when I watched him been interviewed on ITV news, he mentioned how he was going to make sure all our G.C.S.E. grades were going to be met even though our coursework was destroyed. Thanks to everyone for caring though I didn't realise it till now. Glad everyone got out safely. Get Well Soon Mrs Ruddy.

Hello everyone, you probably don't remember me as I was very shy at school. I used to just get my head down and study. Hope all the staff who taught me are all fine and well. I am currently working at the Salvation Army through the week and I am in Saint Johns ambulance at weekends. I am trained to stick plasters on small wounds. Next week i will be fully trained to apply bandages. I always knew I would acheive my goal, it's been a strugle but I`m there now. A big shout out to Mr Fairhirst if he's still there. Adios! Just visiting the website to see how the school is progressing. It's changed lots since I left. I'd like to say a big thankyou to all the teachers who helped me to get my GCSE'S. I went back to college and re-sat some of my exams last year which I passed. As you can tell with the name change I'm now married and living in London. I think it would be a great idea for the school to become a specialist school. If anyone wants to e-mail me feel free - It'd be nice to know what people are doing these days, and take care to everyone

So how is everyone back home? I'm in USA at the minute trying to get into uni here, should be fun! It's only 3 weeks to the start of the school year here and I have to get a few things in before it starts, so it is getting kinda late and tense. Oh well... should be fine though. I just wanted to say sorry that I wasn't at the reunion this year, I was over here and by the time I knew about the whole thing it had already passed! So, I'm sorry! Maybe I will be there the next time we have one, 20 years or so...
Anyways, Just a little thank you to Miss Vosper. You're great and everyone loves you for what you did for us, I dont think school would have been as fun without you there! So thanks! and erm, thanks for those many reference's you did for me, bet your thinking you're never getting rid of me! haha.

Hello to everyone and anyone that remembers me. I was at WHS from '87 to '90. I loved the place. The recent government advert where celebrities name their favourite teacher inspired me to leave this message. My favourites were Mr Disney (a supreme teacher and a very nice bloke), Mr Wilby and Mr Clegg. Mr Loveday was pretty good too and he's deputy head now! And what happened to Dr. Dorney? Retired I presume.

Howdy partners. Believe it or not I never attended college. Worked for a few months in sales and didn't like it. Turned to something a bit different and I was training as a goldsmith for about year and 8 or 9 months. But then I got bored of being sat around all the time so I'm now a Civil Engineer in the making. In other words.......I work on the roads...but it pays well. I still keep in touch with a few mates from school, but to those I dont.....hope you are well and not missing me too much. Didn't think school was great, but loved sport and the friends made after our transfer from Felkirk in 1968. Mr Wilby, McKenzie, Richards all had to put up with me, and I attended quite regularly. I remember well the muddy Saturday mornings playing rugby and footy. A great weekend spent at Wembley in 1970 - Mr Schofield and Mrs Amos supervised. I remember Mr Leary giving me a telling off saying if we gave out merits for looking out of the window I would be top of the class. Every time I pass Willowgarth I often think of the good times I had and the pain in the neck I must have been for many of the staff. Although I left with no Qualifications in 1971 I am now a firm believer in good education and i'm sure Willowgarth can provide it.

I thought I would send in a comment, just in case it's my old mate Roy Sargesson who checks these out. Is Mr McKenzie still there? I still remember him telling me not to turn up in my dad's tie again, as it looked more like a Hemsworth Grammar tie than a Willowgarth one! That's going back a few years - probably around 1970. I recognise a few of my old teachers, and my cousin Pete, on the old Rugby Photo. I am still making use of all Mr Wilby's training, teaching A level Biology in a Nottingham College.
Cheers! - Roy

Congratulations on the web site.
I used to be a student at Willowgarth from 1983 to 89 and loved just about every minute of it, especially the Sixth Form. I've just been going over the pictures of the staff and it's fantastic to see that Miss Vosper (my form tutor), Mr Campbell (my rugby coach), Mr Saul, Mr Blackburn and even Mr Davison (my form tutor at Springvale), are all still involved. Just wanted to say hello to them all and Thank You!
I will always remember that you were among the teachers that really used to enjoy teaching (or so it seemed). Most of us really appreciated that, even though it might not have seemed that way at the time. Good Luck to you all.

I got all As, Bs and one C from R.E. At the moment I'm doing GCSE PE, Food Technology and Dance for my options. There's only one lesson I don't like and that's French. I had an exam on that as well.
About 8 weeks ago I broke my arm, wrist and thumb. Only just had my pot off. Nice to see the school is still as strong if not stronger than what it was. Nice to see you all looking so well. Tell the PE staff my mum said Hi aswell plz.
Lots of love,
Bianca

Feeling a bit nostalgic, I decided to see if WHS had a web site & here I am adding my own entry. I left in Willowgarth in 87 & in 94 moved to Milan. I now work for one of the most famous Italian editorial companies which produce more than 16 leading magazines from architecture to travel selling publicity. The last time I came home was Easter this year, one sad thing is that when living away you lose touch with old friends like Andrea Williams (Stanley). We were like the terrible twins. If people do remember me then drop me a line. Baci to everyone.

Hi, everyone. I've just been reading all the other comments. Hi, Channi and Gary. 2 in the same year as me. Gary you sound like you're doing really well, good for you. I'm still stuck here.... just left college, doing exams soon, working part time. I'm now driving and have a car. Hiya, Mr McKenzie. Please say Hi to Mr Lean, Mrs Lomas, Mrs Harnett, Mr Hesletine, Miss Vosper. Hope they're all still there, they were great. I've not seen much of 'em since I left. I saw Mrs Vosper (passed her when I was in the car and she waved) seen Miss Allen a couple of times recently. Hope everyone's keeping well. I have to admit I do sometimes miss being at school.
Take care, everyone.
Bye for now!

Hello, people.
Remember me from school? The quiet one. Well I'm now a British Army Infantry soldier and have just recently been deployed to Iraq during the war but I will always remember my roots. Thanks a lot, Willowgarth. All the best for a long future.

I'd like to keep in touch with the staff here. Hey, Mrs. Lomas. How's the dinners without me there to bug ya? Email me back ya know.

Hi to all,
My grandmother lived in Brierley. Sadly she has passed away now. I used to pass Willowgarth regularly. I came upon this site by accident and it's really good. I live in Northampton and left school last year. Wish our canteen and school/surroundings looked like yours.

Ehup, whoever is reading this!!! Remember me??? left in 2000, came from Mr Lapish's express group. Just sat at work and I thought I would have a look to see what is going on there these days. I keep meaning to come in and speak to somebody about my further education, but you know as well as I do that work doesn't necessarily make it easy to get a day free!!! Anyway, still hoping to get in and speak to somebody, so maybe I'll be talkin to you in person one day soon! L8R!

Hi everyone,

Oh my God! Willowgarth with a website! I remember when it only had about 10 computers in the whole school! I haven't seen the school for about 12 yrs as I moved away a couple of years after leaving school. Most people would remember me by my nickname, Fatima. If anyone wants to reminisce just drop me a line!

I attended Willowgarth in 1983 and left in 1986. Since I left the school has come on in leaps and bounds, what with the recording studio and all the new IT rooms. I wish I was back at school and know what I know now. You should treasure your time at school and make the most of your potential. I tell my 2 children that attend Willowgarth now, to make the most of their time at school, but what can I say, life is wasted on the young.

Hey everyone, it's nice to see the Willowgarth website again and I can honestly say I've missed Willowgarth. The best years of my life were spent at that school and I couldn't have asked for better teachers. The school looks a lot better since I've left. There's been some amazing changes. I would just like to say a big thankyou to all the staff for putting up with me for a full five years. Thank you!

Hi,
A friend sent me this to have a look at. I must say I was very impressed. The school looks terrific, and the comments of past students show that it is a good place to learn. I live in Maitland, Australia. It is 3 hrs north of Sydney right near Newcastle and the Hunter Valley. It is a very large mining area, similar to Grimethorpe etc., most of which are still operational. We have some large schools in the area, none as large as Willowgarth though. Only the grammar and private schools have large dining rooms.
So thanks for the insight in to your part of the world. It was very interesting.

How precious are your school days. I wished I had applied myself more. No grumbles! I have had varied careers, from mining to the Police Force and now in Canada with the Ontario Ministry of Correctional Services. You need a university degree to be considered for this job now. Paul Halford, I can tell you that the American exchange Teacher was Called Mr Micheal and I believe I played against him at Rugby also. I was one of the first to sign up on the Friends Reunited web, alas not too many of my ex-class mates have. Good Luck to you all. I will always have fond memories of the following teachers: Mr Jenks, Mr Horton, Mr Eastman, Mr Betteridge, Mr Noble, Mrs Shirt and, of course, Mr F. Tipping. I wasn't an artsy person but I still liked Mr Herbert, Mr Guidici, not forgetting Mr Osborne and the everpresent R Wilby.
Regards to all past and present,

Can any one help? In the late '60s, early '70s I was a member of the school First XV (Rugby team). I was second row in the scrum. I think it was 1970 when we had a photograph taken before a match against the staff (one of whom was an American exchange teacher). Does any one have a copy of this photo they could e-mail to me?
Thanks

I left willowgarth in 1997 and have nothing but fond memories of the school and teachers there. Congratulations to Mr. Beswick on becoming headmaster. I hope the kids at Willowgarth now have as good a time as I did when I was there.
I spent 3 years at college doing A levels in Business Studies, Accounts, Psychology, General Studies, a GCSE in Law and level 1 in Computerised Accounts. I now work Supervisor. It was nice to see the mug shots of the teachers I knew, especially Mr. Saul and Miss. Vosper.
Anyway must go. Oh, one more thing, our Matty says Hi!

I left the School in 1957, a year after it first opened. I came across this part of the site by accident. Credit should be given to the person(s) who put it together. Keep up the good work. I will visit it on a more regular time from now on. If there is any one from my year out there, why not send me an E:mail and we can then re-unite.

Hi,
After living out of Yorkshire for more then 17 years we have recently returned and my son is now in Willowgarth. The interview prior to him starting brought back so many memories....... I did not realise how much I had enjoyed my time in schoool!!!!!! Always thought it a bit of a bore when I was there. It is good to hear that some of my old teachers are still alive and kicking dosn't make me feel so old. The ones I remember the most are Mr Price (Music) must be the first, Mr Mullen, Mr. Wilby, Miss Barrett, Mr Leary (who said I would never pass English O Level (Sorry, Sir, went to night school got an A! at GCSE) Mr. Osbourne (Biology... you were right, I never did know a toe nail from an arm pit!!!) Mr. McKenzie, Mr Neal ..... Yes many years ago, I left in May 1978. I left school to become a dental nurse. I then went on to office work and have worked for European Organisations (in Europe) and multi million pound organisations including working as PA for the Chief Engineer for BP... Wish everyone involved with the school every success. I was not the brightest of pupils but still made it. Office Manager for an international organisation must be the proof of that. Thanks to Willowgarth, I was taught how to learn even if I didn't bother until it was almost too late. Not sure many remember but Mr Trotman was Head at the time... what a great guy I usually remember him on the 1st March each year (Well he couldn't help being Welsh!!!!)
Thanks to Willowgarth. I wish you every success in becoming Willowgarth Technology College.
Lynn

Dear all staff, new and old,
I am an ex-pupil of Willowgarth and I've just been onto your web site and would like to congratulate all the people involved in putting it together, its very impressive.
I was a pupil of the class of 1993, Kay Millthorpe. I now live in the south of our lovely country with my husband Mark Jones, also an ex-pupil the class of 1991. So a big shout to all of our brilliant teachers who put up with us for all those years! I'm now working in a nursing home, part time, and a mother full time!! Mark's in the Royal Marines an that's how we came to move to the south country. I'd like to say hello to any of the following teachers Miss Tracy Allen, Miss Bev Vosper and Mr. Steve Lapish. Sorry I didn't keep in touch!! I would love to here from you all again, that's if you are still working at Willowgarth!! I hop this message puts a smile on all your faces.
Love Kay Jones xx

Just thought I would have a quick look around and leave a message for anyone that might remember me. I attended Willowgarth between the years of 1989 - 1992. Anyone that remembers me send an e-mail to my girlfriend's address (she won't mind). Mr Moss was an excellent teacher and so was Mr Smith.
Hope to hear from someone soon?
