Procedures for the Emergency closure of the school

Recent events serve to remind us that, from time to time, emergency situations may arise which require schools to send pupils home early. On such occasions it is our policy in Willowgarth:

1. to ensure that announcements are made on local radio as quickly as possible;
2. to arrange transport home by bus if this can be achieved;
3. in cases of particular difficulty, to arrange transport home in staff and school vehicles if this can be achieved.

May I ask that you ensure, that your child knows exactly what your wishes would be in the event of such a crisis. If necessary, please make appropriate arrangements with friends, neighbours or members of your family and make, sure that your child understands them. If there are older children in school who could take some responsibility for your child on such occasions, please seek permission from their parents for them to do so. Consider the desirability of ensuring that your child carries additional money in case additional transport costs are incurred.
