General Information

Governors' curriculum policy
The Governors support and endorse the Barnsley LEA's curriculum policy without amendment or reservation. This policy, which incorporates the National Curriculum, is fully stated in two documents ('The Curriculum in Primary and Secondary Schools' and 'Barnsley's Entitlement Curriculum') both of which are available from the LEA and may be examined in the school.

In addition, the Governors are decided on the necessity for sex education to form part of the school's curriculum (this is treated under a separate heading in this prospectus). Back to top
Structure and Content
For academic purposes the school is under the supervision of the Director of Studies, the Year Heads, the Heads of subject departments and the cross-curricular Co-ordinators. The Year Heads are particularly concerned with monitoring the progress of individual pupils. Heads of Department are responsible for arranging subject courses, and Co-ordinators address cross-curricular issues - for example, Careers Education, Health Education, Individual Needs, Equal Opportunities.
