The Barnsley Local Education Authority has a scheme which provides assistance with school meals and uniform and application should be made to the Scheme of Aid Office in the Education Department. The Meals Service operates a cash cafeteria at school. There is a wide range of meals, and pupils pay for their lunches item by item. Items range from traditional hot meals to sandwiches, crisps and biscuits. A wide range of drinks is available. There is no fixed meal and no restriction on what pupils may purchase. We have found that the children enjoy their meals much more under this system and there is little waste.Pupils entitled to free school lunches are issued with passes on a daily basis. The passes are exchanged at the tills for lunches to the value of £1.15. Should any child wish to purchase items costing more than £1.15, he/she may present the pass and make up the difference in cash. Back to top
